Question:
I have a felony arrest on my record although I don’t want it to hold me back from working with a Recruiter, should I let them know about it?
Answer:
Yes, please inform the Recruiter up front so that they can take this into account while they are searching for open jobs on your behalf and tailor a specific list of organizations to present your information to.
While a felony might disqualify you from some jobs, there are still plenty of other companies where this is not a factor and the Recruiter will be able to take this into account and make sure you are not being presented to any opportunities where employment is not possible due to the company’s background check policy.
Being upfront about any criminal record will not only save the Recruiter’s time, it will also save you time as a candidate so that you do not need to go on interviews only to find out after the interview process that you are not eligible to be hired due to something you were aware of from the start.
